Hello! Nice to meet you

I’m an experienced Product Designer who is passionate about design and will always advocate for the user’s best possible experience.

I also have experience leading multiple complex builds from inception to release and beyond, which provided a holistic perspective on product creation. Currently I’m working as a UX Lead Designer, supporting 5 UX designers and coordinating with other practice leads at BIMM, while continuing to work on exciting products for Audi.

After over 16 years of working in the art and design industries, I have a finely tuned eye, the ability to take criticism, and am capable of working with all kinds of clients and stakeholders. I have presented workshops in radical candor, UX writing, and women’s careers in tech. I also have my accessibility and leadership certifications.

In my spare time I like playing with my dog (who is good), watching food-related tv, reading fantasy, sci-fi, or mystery novels, and travelling.

Anonymous nomination for the lightbulb award at BIMM

“Katie is an incredible leader. - Has every Bimmer's back: She is an active listener who always makes time for team members, consistently advocates for her team and their needs, and offers a strong voice when the team is in need of support. I know I can reach out to Katie if I need additional support in defending my work to stakeholders. Not only that, she does an incredible job at representing user's needs across various work-streams and an even better job at trusting the team to move things forward. Trust, empathy, communication, integrity; all of these qualities and more are what make Katie such a wonderful person to work with, and are qualities I look for in a true leader. Katie, you make the client AND the team shine!!”

Anonymous feedback , Annual review at BIMM

“Katie has an excellent ability to ease the concerns of clients by compromising on small details to sell them on the recommendation. Her design ability is excellent and she has a great eye for detail. I feel a sense of ease when I know Katie is on a project because she is an excellent defender of the designs and positions things in a way that clients understand and can align with. I feel so lucky to have her on the team!”

Russ Patterson, Client from Halterix

“Katie has outstanding design, interaction, client management, product management and project management skills. In my experience, it's unusual to see all of those things in one person. During her time working with us on app design and development, she was professional, prompt, courteous, followed-through on every detail, demonstrated creativity and ingenuity, and was everything you want to see in your POC at an agency in general. Above all, she did gorgeous design work that was well grounded in user research. I would be thrilled to work with her again and would highly recommend her for any role from UER to product management.”

Julie Lane, Director of UX at INVIVO

“Such an honour to have Katie part of our team. She embodies the true principles of UX with every detail created, discovery uncovered, and solution delivered. Within a short amount of time, Katie became an integral part of the team. Relentlessly meeting tight timelines and developing challenging experiences. She aided and lead a multitude of projects, often outside of her comfort zone, with both curiosity and dedication. Thank you greatly for such amazing work”
